HabitSetu App

Privacy Policy

📅 Effective Date: 11 March 2026 🔄 Last Updated: 11 March 2026 📍 Version 1.0
01 - Overview

Our Commitment to Your Privacy

This Privacy Policy describes how HabitSetu ("we," "our," or "the app") handles information when you use our Android application. We are committed to being transparent about our data practices.

This app does not require account registration or login. We do not collect your name, email address, phone number, or any personally identifiable information as part of normal app usage.

Data Usage Clarification: We do not sell your personal data to any third parties. We do not use your data to track you across apps or services outside of this app. The only external data sharing occurs through Google AdMob (for displaying ads) and when you voluntarily contact our support team.
Plain language summary: Your habit data and activity logs stay on your device. Logs older than 7 days are automatically deleted to keep the app lean. EEA/UK/Swiss users are shown a consent dialog on first launch and can customise or decline individual data processing purposes via the "Manage options" screen. Some ad partners may process data under legitimate interest by default, which you can object to via "Manage options."
02 - Data We Collect

Information Collection & Use

Habit Data (Local Only)

All habit information you create, edit, or delete - including habit names, schedules, and completion history - is stored exclusively in a local database on your device using Room Database. This data never leaves your device under normal app operation and is never transmitted to our servers.

Activity Logs (Local Only - Auto-Pruned)

The app maintains a local activity logs table within the Room Database to record in-app events and user interactions (such as habit completions, edits, and reminders triggered). This data is used solely to support app functionality and is never transmitted off your device.

To keep the app's storage footprint small, a background task (Android WorkManager) runs automatically once per day to permanently delete any log entries older than 7 days. No manual action is required.

  • Logs are stored only in your device's local Room Database
  • Log entries are automatically purged after 7 days
  • Logs are never synced, uploaded, or shared with us or any third party
  • Pruning is performed by a periodic WorkManager task running approximately every 24 hours
Device Information (Support Only - Voluntary)

When you tap "Contact Us," your device's email app opens with the following information pre-populated in the email body to help us diagnose issues:

  • App Version
  • Build Number
  • Device Model
  • Manufacturer
  • Android OS Version
  • Android SDK Version
  • Timestamp of the support request
  • A zip file of your local habit database - attached to the email

This information is pre-filled for your convenience but is only sent if you actively tap Send in your email app. It is used solely for debugging and improving app functionality and is never shared with any third party.

How "Contact Us" works: Tapping "Contact Us" triggers an Android email intent that opens your installed email app. The device and app details above are pre-filled as plain text in the email body, and your habit database is included as a .zip file attachment. The app does not transmit any data automatically or in the background. Nothing is sent unless you actively tap Send in your email app.

Advertising Data (via Google AdMob)

Our app displays advertisements through Google AdMob. AdMob may automatically collect certain data to serve relevant ads. See Section 4 for full details.

Data Deletion Request

If you wish to delete your data, you can contact us at habitsetu@gmail.com.

We do not store personal data on our own servers. However, the app may collect limited data through third-party services such as Google AdMob, including device identifiers, approximate location, and app interaction data for advertising purposes.

Upon receiving a request, we will take reasonable steps to delete any user-related data we may have access to, including coordinating with third-party services such as Google AdMob where applicable.

Please note that some data may be retained for a limited period as required for legal or operational purposes.

03 - App Permissions

Device Permissions Explained

Our app requests the following Android permissions. Each permission is used only for the specific purpose described below:

Permission Purpose
POST_NOTIFICATIONS To send you habit reminders and alarm notifications at your scheduled times.
SCHEDULE_EXACT_ALARM To schedule precise habit reminders at the exact times you define.
RECEIVE_BOOT_COMPLETED To automatically restore your scheduled habit alarms after your device is restarted.
INTERNET To load and display advertisements via Google AdMob and to open external web pages such as this Privacy Policy within the app.
No Location Permissions: This app does not request ACCESS_FINE_LOCATION or ACCESS_COARSE_LOCATION. We never access GPS or network-based precise location data. Approximate location used by AdMob is derived solely from your device's IP address by Google's servers - the app itself does not read or transmit your location.

No permissions are used to collect, track, or transmit personal information beyond the stated purposes above.

04 - Advertising

Google AdMob & Advertisements

Our app displays advertisements using Google AdMob, a mobile advertising platform provided by Google LLC. AdMob uses the Google Mobile Ads SDK to load and display advertisements inside the app.

When ads are shown, certain data may be automatically collected and processed by Google and its advertising partners participating in the IAB Europe Transparency & Consent Framework (TCF) in order to serve ads, measure advertising performance, and prevent fraud.

Advertisements are only requested after obtaining the required user consent in applicable regions.

Data AdMob & Ad Partners May Collect
  • Advertising ID (Google Advertising Identifier / GAID)
  • Device identifiers and hardware information
  • IP address (used to derive approximate location)
  • Approximate location derived from IP address
  • Cookies and information stored on or accessed from your device
  • App usage and interaction data
  • Diagnostic information and crash signals

Precise location is never collected. This app does not request any location permission (ACCESS_FINE_LOCATION or ACCESS_COARSE_LOCATION). GPS or network-based precise location data is therefore never available to AdMob or any other SDK through this app.

Google AdMob acts as an independent data controller for advertising data. Their data practices are governed by their own privacy policies, and we encourage you to review them.

EU / EEA Users - Consent Dialog (IAB TCF)

If you are located in the European Economic Area (EEA), United Kingdom, or Switzerland, you will be shown a consent dialog when you first launch the app in order to comply with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and Google's EU User Consent Policy.

The consent dialog asks for permission for the following purposes:

  • Personalised advertising and content
  • Advertising and content measurement
  • Audience research and service improvement
  • Storing and/or accessing information on your device

Users may choose to consent to all purposes or use the "Manage options" screen to customise or decline individual processing purposes and vendors.

You can revisit and modify your consent choices at any time through the privacy settings available within the app.

Legitimate Interest Processing

Some advertising partners may rely on legitimate interest as a legal basis under GDPR to process certain data for purposes such as fraud prevention, ad delivery, or measurement.

Where applicable, legitimate interest processing may be enabled by default in the consent message. You can review and object to such processing through the "Manage options" screen within the consent dialog.

RTB (Real-Time Bidding) Partner Creatives

Our AdMob configuration includes a consent verification check for Real-Time Bidding (RTB) partners, including Authorised Buyers and Open Bidding partners. Google will automatically block ad creatives from partners that do not have valid user consent before displaying them in the app.

Opt-Out of Personalised Ads

You can control or reset your advertising identifier and opt out of personalised advertising at any time:

  • Android: Settings -> Google -> Ads -> "Delete advertising ID" or "Opt out of Ads Personalisation"
  • Visit adssettings.google.com to manage Google ad personalisation
Tracking Disclosure: While this app itself does not track users across apps, Google AdMob and its partners may use data for personalised advertising depending on your consent preferences.
Non-Personalised Ads: If you choose not to consent to personalised advertising, you may still see ads. These will be non-personalised and based on contextual information rather than your personal data.
05 - Data Sharing

How We Share Information

We do not sell, trade, rent, or otherwise transfer your personal information to third parties. The limited data sharing that occurs is as follows:

Recipient Data Shared Condition
Google AdMob Advertising ID (GAID), device identifiers, app interaction data, diagnostic signals, approximate location derived from IP address Automatically during ad display
AdMob Advertising Partners (IAB TCF) Device and ad identifiers, usage signals (via AdMob network) Automatically during ad display; some partners operate under legitimate interest
Support Team (Developer) App version, build number, device model, manufacturer, Android OS version, SDK version, timestamp (email body) + habit database zip file (email attachment) Only when you explicitly tap "Contact Us" and actively tap Send in your email app
Any other party None Never

We do not operate any external servers or cloud infrastructure. No habit data or activity logs are ever transmitted to us automatically.

No Sale of Data: We do not sell your personal data to any third parties under any circumstances.
06 - Data Storage & Security

How Your Data Is Stored

All app data - including your habits, schedules, preferences, and activity logs - is stored locally on your device using Android's Room Database (SQLite). This means:

Automatic Log Pruning via WorkManager

To keep the app's storage usage minimal, we use Android WorkManager to run a periodic background task approximately every 24 hours. This task automatically deletes activity log entries that are older than 7 days from the local Room Database.

This process runs entirely on-device, requires no network access, and involves no transmission of data. It is purely a housekeeping operation to prevent the logs table from growing indefinitely.

  • Pruning runs automatically - no action required from you
  • Only log entries older than 7 days are deleted
  • Habit data, schedules, and completion history are never affected by this task
  • The task is registered when the app starts and persists across device reboots
Note: Because all data is stored locally, we cannot recover your data if your device is lost, reset, or if you uninstall the app. We recommend backing up your device regularly.
07 - GDPR & EU Users

European Privacy Rights

If you are a resident of the European Economic Area (EEA), United Kingdom, or Switzerland, you have specific rights under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and equivalent local laws.

Your GDPR Rights
  • Right of Access - Since we do not store personal data on our servers, we do not hold any user data that can be accessed or exported by us. Advertising-related data is processed by Google AdMob.
  • Right to Erasure - You may delete all app data at any time by clearing app data or uninstalling the app.
  • Right to Withdraw Consent - You may withdraw advertising consent at any time via the "Manage options" screen in the consent dialog or via your device settings.
  • Right to Object - You may object to processing based on legitimate interest for each ad partner individually via the "Manage options" screen.

Since we do not store personal data on our servers, most of these rights can be exercised directly on your device by clearing app data or uninstalling the application. For advertising-related rights, refer to Google's privacy controls or use the in-app consent management screen.

Legal Bases for Processing (EEA / UK / Switzerland)
  • Consent - Personalised advertising and content measurement require your explicit consent, given through the in-app IAB TCF consent dialog on first launch.
  • Legitimate Interest - Some ad partners may process data under legitimate interest. You can review and object to such processing via the "Manage options" screen.

Note on location: This app does not collect or transmit precise location data - no location permission is requested. Approximate location (IP-derived) is processed by Google AdMob under the legal bases above.

08 - Children's Privacy

Children Under 13

Our app is not directed to children under the age of 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 years of age.

If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has used our app or provided personal information, please contact us immediately at the address below and we will take appropriate steps to address the situation.

Our advertising implementation does not use child-directed ad settings as this app is intended for general audiences aged 13 and above. We do not knowingly request or serve personalised ads to users identified as children.
